Emily Tay: Player of the Year. That just about sums up Emily. #42. You want 25 points a game? You want 10 assists? Need some big numbers in the rebounds, steals and hustle departments? Need a defensive stop?
Look no further than Marlborough School in Los Angeles and their 5'8" star point guard. Tay is the calibre of player that warrants the term "difference maker" and a commitment to Gonzaga would ensure that the Zags stay on top AND seriously upgrade at the point guard position.
The Book on Emily reads like this:
Extremely smart, great handles, great in the open court, nice passer, nice pull up jumpers, shoots the 3, a good scorer.
One of the top players in the west, regardless of position, it goes without saying the daughter of Leonard and Betty Tay would be a huge coup for the Gonzaga program.
And that's just what Gonzaga Head Coach Kelly Graves and staff is hoping for when Emily visits October 23-25. With two high-caliber post players and an outstanding wing already committed to the Zags, a quality point guard is needed to round out the recruiting class and help replace departing senior Shannon Mathews.
Emily Tay fits that description to a "T."
Also visiting at the same time as Emily will be 6'2" Maria Hassett from Beaverton, Oregon. Maria was the first 2005 recruit to commit to the Zags.
