Ladies' Schedule not Paradise

After being snubbed by the NCAA Selection Committee after losing just three games, Kelly Graves made sure Gonzaga's women would play a tougher schedule for a stronger RPI and overall resume'.

After opening in McArthey Athletic Center against Concordia in an exhibition game, the Lady Zags get down to some serious business.

On November 18, Gonzaga travels to San Jose, Cal, to take on the Spartans of WAC San Jose State. Two days later, November 20, the women take on ara rival Big Sky Eastern Washington back in McArthey Athletic Center.

Next is the highlight of the 2005 nonconference schedule: flying to the Paradise Jam Tournament in the Virgin Islands to do battle with Michigan State, Tennessee and Maryland, the former two being 2005 Final Four teams. This marquee event will take place November 24 through 26.

There's no rest for Kelly Graves' team as the Zags return to the Inland Northwest with a 90 minute trip to Moscow, ID, to play the Idaho Vandals on November 30.

To open December, a tremendous opportunity awaits GU as they participate in the University of Nevada Tournament in Reno, NV, against two of Nevada, Northern Colorado and Northwesten State. This tournament on December 2 and 3 will be see the Zags as favorites to bring home the trophy.

Three more road games follow, beginning with Sacramento State on December 5, then at Utah on December 10, and finally at Denver on December 21.

Before a brief break for Christmas, the women return home to play San Jose State in a rematch on December 23.

After Christmas, on December 31, GU visits Utah Valley State, then finishes the nonconference schedule at home on January 2 against Portland State.

The 2006 WCC season begins January 6.

Gonzaga will play Montana in the new Kennell, but a date has not been firmed up yet.
