Gonzaga's 06-07 schedule is not quite complete and no official release is expected for months, but there are enough games inked that we thought we'd offer a preview. A more detailed examination of the ooc foes will come later, when the entire schedule is known.

The Bulldogs from Spokane will open the season in the NIT Tip-Off Classic, formerly known as the Preseason NIT. The four-team event will open in mid-November in the Spokane Arena.

Gonzaga will open against the Rice Owls. Win or lose, the second game will be against either Colorado State or Baylor. If the Zags win both, they will travel to Madison Square Garden for two more games, possibly against the likes of North Carolina, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Indiana.

Idaho will visit the McCarthy Athletic Center again, and the Eastern Washington Eagles will also visit the "New Kennel."

The Zags will have to be Road Warriors as trip to Phoenix to play Texas is booked for December 2, along with treks south to play the Georgia Bulldogs and the Virginia Cavaliers, and back east to NYC's Madison Square Garden for December 21 holiday season date with Duke.

Pac-10 foes include hosting Washington on the GU campus, venturing ninety minutes south to Pullman, WA, for a date with WSU, then a trip to Palo Alto, CA, for a rematch with the Stanford Cardinal.

One of the biggest marquee games will occur right in the Spokane Arena in February, 2007, when John Calipari's Memphis Tigers roll into town for the second game of a four contract.

As of this date, a foe for the annual Battle in Seattle has not been announced, but it has been reported to be a West Coast school that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

There remains at least three more possible ooc games to be scheduled, preferably in the McCarthy Athletic Center since only UW, Idaho and EWU are inked thus far. It remains to be seen if these will be one-time guaranteed games or home-and-home deals that could result in higher level schools.

Stay tuned to GUnation.com as the 06-07 schedule slowly takes shape.
